New to Storepoint? Start your free trial

Installed from Shopify

You open Storepoint from Apps in your Shopify admin. Shopify bills you.

New to Storepoint? Get the Shopify app

Not sure which you have? If Storepoint opens inside your Shopify admin, you installed it from Shopify.

You also need:

  • Your locations, with a map provider connected. New to Storepoint? Follow the Quick start first.
  • Permission to edit themes and pages in your Shopify admin.

Make your store locator page

Most stores give the locator its own page, such as Find a store or Where to buy. Follow these four steps.

Why a new template?

A template is a page layout. Give your locator its own so it stays off your other pages.

Installed from Shopify In Storepoint, the Add to Shopify tab has a button for each step.

Step 1: Create a template

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. On your current theme, select Edit theme.
  3. In the menu at the top, select Pages > Create template.
  4. Enter store-locator as the name.
  5. Under Based on, select Default page.
  6. Select Create template.

Nothing changes for shoppers yet. No page uses this template.

Step 2: Add the locator

You're still in the theme editor, on your new template.

Signed up with Storepoint

  1. In Storepoint, open Install on your site.
  2. Copy your embed code.
  3. In the theme editor, select Add section > Custom Liquid.
  4. Paste your embed code into the Liquid code field.
  5. Select Save.

Installed from Shopify

  1. Select Add section.
  2. Under Apps, select Locator.
  3. Select Save.

Want more on the page, such as a heading or a picture? Select Add section again.

Step 3: Create your page

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Pages.
  2. Select Add page. To use a page you already have, open it instead.
  3. Enter a title, such as "Find a store".
  4. Under Theme template, select store-locator.
  5. Select Save.

Check: Open the page on your store. Search near one of your locations.

Step 4: Add it to your menu

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Content > Menus.
  2. Select your main menu.
  3. Select Add menu item.
  4. Enter a name, such as "Find a store".
  5. In the link field, select Pages.
  6. Select your locator page.
  7. Select Save.

That's it. Your locator is live.

Changes you make in Storepoint show on your store automatically.

Changed your mind? Set the page's template back to Default page.

Other ways to add it

The steps above suit most stores. These also work:

Paste the code into a pageQuickest. Works with every theme, including older ones.

The locator sits inside your page text, so it can look narrower on some themes.

Paste the code in HTML view. In the normal view, Shopify shows the code as text.

  1. In Storepoint, open Install on your site.
  2. Copy your embed code. If you installed from Shopify, it's on the Code snippet tab.
  3. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Pages.
  4. Select Add page. To use a page you already have, open it instead.
  5. In the content editor, select Show HTML (<>).
  6. Paste your embed code.
  7. Select Save.
Use your ready-made pageInstalled from ShopifyNo theme setup. It's on your own domain, with your theme's header and footer.
  1. In Storepoint, open Install on your site > Locator page.
  2. Copy the Page address.
  3. Add it to your menu, as in step 4. Paste the address into the link field.

The page goes live when your plan is active, at least one location is published, and your map provider is connected. Until then, it says "This store locator is being set up."

To change the address: On Storepoint’s Locator page tab, open Change the page address and follow the steps there. Then update any menu links that use the old address.

Show only some locations

You can open your locator with filters already on. For example, show only installers, or only stores that carry one product. Shoppers can still change or clear them.

Signed up with Storepoint

Add your tags to the embed code. See Embed code options.

Installed from Shopify

  1. In Storepoint, open Install on your site > Filtered locator.
  2. Select your tags.
  3. Copy them into your Locator block's Tag filters setting.
  4. Select Save.

Filters belong to the template, so every page that uses it gets the same filters. For different filters on different pages, make a template for each set. Want filters that change with each product? Email us, and we'll help you plan it.

Show it in more than one language

The locator follows your store's language, including Shopify Markets. Add your translations in Phrases Pro. French shoppers see French, and German shoppers see German. More on translations →

Match your theme

Choose your map style, map pins, colors, buttons, and layout in Storepoint. Designers can also add their own CSS.

Or have us style it for you, free.

Send us your store link, and we'll match your locator to your theme. Fonts, colors, buttons, and layout. Included with every plan. See examples →

Common questions

Stuck on a step? Email us at [email protected] with your store address. We'll help you finish.

Why does the locator show on my About page?

The locator is on the Default page template, which most of your pages share. To move it to one page:

  1. Do steps 1, 3, and 4 above. Skip step 2: your new template copies the locator from Default page.
  2. In the theme editor, open Default page.
  3. Select the locator, and remove it.
  4. Select Save.
Why does my page show the code as text?

The code went into the normal text view. Open the page in Shopify. Select Show HTML (<>), and paste the code again.

Why does my page say "This store locator is being set up"?

This message is on your ready-made page. The page goes live when your plan is active, at least one location is published, and your map provider is connected.

My theme has no Apps or Create template option. What can I do?

Your theme may be an older one. Paste the code into a page instead. This works with every theme.

I cannot edit my theme. What can I do?

Ask someone with theme access to do steps 1 and 2. Or paste the code into a page. If you installed from Shopify, you can also use your ready-made page.

Why does the map not load?

Check your map provider setup. Make sure your store's web address is on the provider's list of allowed addresses.

How do I change or cancel my plan?

If you signed up with Storepoint, open Account > Subscription in Storepoint.

If you installed from Shopify, open Account > Subscription in Storepoint, then select Manage plan in Shopify. If you uninstall the app, the locator stops showing on your store.
