How It Works

Storepoint handles geocoding automatically. Provide the address and we'll pinpoint each location on the map.
Save it as a named import and Storepoint keeps the mapping. When your data changes, upload the new file and it updates those locations for you, with no second round of matching.
Preparing Your Spreadsheet
Your spreadsheet works as it is. Any CSV or Excel file with column names in the first row is ready to import, whether it came from your POS, your CRM, a distributor report, or a Google Sheet.
Use Your Own Column Names
Storepoint reads your column names and matches them to its own fields. Headings like Store Name, Business, Street, Zip, Postal Code, Phone Number, Lat, and Lng are recognized on their own. For anything else, you pick the matching Storepoint field from a dropdown on the mapping screen, and you can skip the columns you don't need.
So you keep your own headings, your own column order, and any extra columns your team relies on.
What Every Row Needs
- A name for the location
- An address Storepoint can place on the map
The address column can hold a complete street address like 123 Main St, Boston, MA 02101, or something broader like Lisbon, Portugal. Storepoint geocodes whatever you give it, so a city or region is enough when that's the level of detail you have. If your address is split across separate street, city, state, and postcode columns, map each one and Storepoint combines them.

File Formats
Save your file as CSV (.csv) or Excel (.xlsx, .xls). For Excel files, Storepoint reads the first worksheet.
Download a Template optional
Starting from a blank sheet, or want to see how a field should be formatted? The template lists every standard field with one example row filled in. Treat it as a reference, not a required format.
Your account template is the same thing plus your custom fields, if you've set any up.
Storepoint geocodes addresses for you, so the templates skip latitude and longitude. Add those columns yourself if you'd like to set exact coordinates. See Supported Fields.
Choosing How Your File Is Managed
The Imports & Syncs page has two tabs. Both read your columns the same way, and the difference is what happens to your locations afterwards.
Managed saves your file as a named import and remembers the mapping. Drop in a newer version later and Storepoint updates those locations for you. They're read-only in the dashboard, so your file and your locator always agree. Choose this for data that arrives again: a monthly distributor report, a quarterly retailer list, a partner feed.
Quick Import adds the rows and hands them over. They become ordinary locations you can edit and delete like any other, exactly as if you'd typed them in. Choose this for a one-off list, or for locations you'll look after in the dashboard from here on.
Both live on the same map, so you can use one, the other, or both.
Uploading Your File
For a managed import:
- Go to Imports & Syncs and click New Import or Sync
- Give it a name you'll recognize later, like the distributor, the region, or where the data came from
- Drag and drop your file, or click to browse
For a Quick Import, open the Quick Import tab and drop your file straight in.
Either way, you'll then see how many rows were found and which columns Storepoint detected.
Mapping Columns
Storepoint lines your columns up against its own fields and shows you what it matched, with a sample value from your file beside each one. A ✓ means matched, and a ○ means the column is skipped.
Common headings are matched for you. Check the ones Storepoint guessed, pick a field from the dropdown for anything left over, and leave the columns you don't need on Skip. Name and Address are the two that need a column.
A first-row preview shows how each location will read before you import anything.
Combining Columns optional
Point two or more columns at the same field and Storepoint combines them. Sending Street, City, and Zip to Address builds one address per row. Sending Location Type and Products to Tags merges both into a single tag list. You choose how the values are joined: space, comma, or dash.
Reviewing Before You Import
On a managed import, the last step shows exactly what's about to happen: how many locations will be added, how many will be updated, and how many will be removed. Quick Import shows the count going in. Either way, nothing changes on your locator until you confirm.
Updating Your Locations Later
Got a fresh file? Open your import on the Imports & Syncs page and drop the new version in. Your mapping is already there, so you go straight to the review step.
Storepoint compares the new file against the locations that import brought in, then updates what changed, adds what's new, and removes rows you deleted from the file. Everything else on your locator stays exactly where it is, including locations you added by hand and locations from your other imports.
Locations managed by an import are read-only in the dashboard, so your file and your locator never disagree. Your file is where you make the change, and your next upload carries it through.
Quick Import locations stay yours to edit in the dashboard, so nothing is locked and nothing gets removed behind you. Upload the same file again and Storepoint matches rows by name and address, updating those and adding the new ones. Quick Import also keeps a library of named mapping presets and takes IF/THEN rules, so you can fill in or append values as they come in, like setting Country to United States wherever it's blank.
Supported Fields
These are the Storepoint fields you can map your columns to. Only Name and Address need a column, everything else is optional. Your own column names can be anything, since you match them up during mapping.
Required: name, address
Optional: description, city, state, zip/postal, country, phone, email, website, image url, monday through sunday (hours), facebook, instagram, twitter/x, tags, latitude, longitude
The address field can contain the full address (e.g., 123 Main St, Boston, MA 02101, USA). The city, state, zip/postal, and country fields are available if your existing data has these in separate columns, but they're not required if your address is complete.
Store Hours
There's a field for each day of the week, so a column per day is all it takes. Columns named after the days are matched for you.
Use a simple format like 9:00am - 5:00pm or Closed. If a location has a break (like a lunch closure), separate the time ranges with a comma: 9:00am - 12:00pm, 1:00pm - 5:00pm.

Tags
Map a column to Tags to categorize locations for filtering. Enter tags as a comma-separated list:
Coffee, WiFi, Parking, Drive-Thru
Include all relevant tags for each location in a single cell.
Just include your tags for now. You can organize them into filter groups later in your dashboard. Learn more about filters and tags.
Images
The image_url field accepts a direct link to an image file. Images display on your locations in the locator.
Getting image URLs:
- From your website: Right-click an image and select "Copy image address"
- From image hosts: Services like Cloudinary provide direct image URLs

Coordinates
Storepoint geocodes each location from the address you provide. Got exact coordinates already? Add latitude and longitude columns, map them during import, and Storepoint drops each pin on those points instead of geocoding. Keep your address column mapped as well, since that's the address customers see in your locator.
Custom Fields
If you've set up custom fields, they appear in the mapping dropdown under Custom Fields, so any column in your file can feed them. Want your custom columns labeled for you? Download the template from your dashboard.
After Importing
Once your import completes:
- Your locations appear on the Manage Locations page, labeled with the import that brought them in
- They're immediately visible in your locator widget
- Your next file goes in the same place, and Storepoint takes it from there
After importing, go to Tags & Filters to organize your tags into filter groups. This lets customers filter locations in your locator by category, service, or any other criteria.
Common Questions
Do I need to update my embed code after importing?
No. Once you've embedded the Storepoint widget on your website, it automatically shows your latest locations. Import new locations anytime and they'll appear in your locator immediately.
Is there a limit to how many locations I can import?
The limit depends on your plan. Check your account settings for details.
What if I need to update locations regularly?
Drop your new file onto the same import and Storepoint brings those locations up to date. See updating your locations later.

Do I have to use your template?
No. The template is there as a guide if you want one. Upload your own spreadsheet and match your columns to Storepoint fields on the mapping screen.
My column names don't match yours. Can I still import?
Yes. Name your columns whatever makes sense for your team. Storepoint recognizes most common headings automatically, and you pick the rest from a dropdown. Your mapping is saved with the import, so you do it once.
What happens to columns Storepoint doesn't use?
Nothing. Leave them on Skip and the rest of your file imports normally. Upload your file as it is and leave the tidying to us.
Can I edit imported locations in the dashboard?
Locations from a Quick Import are yours to edit and delete like any other. Locations from a managed import are read-only, since that import keeps them in step with your file. See choosing how your file is managed.
Can I have more than one import?
Yes, as many as you like. Each one manages its own locations, so a monthly distributor file and a one-off regional list live side by side without touching each other.
